Privacy Policy

1. Scope and approach

This policy covers Simple Speedometer (Android package and iOS Bundle ID: com.maimi.sudubiao) and its website. The current app requires no account and has no ads, behavioral analytics or trip cloud service operated by us.

The app does not automatically send your location, routes or trips to our servers. Core speed and trip features run on your device. Visiting the website, sharing an export or emailing us involves networks and other providers as described below.

2. Information processed and purposes

Live location: after you start real location and grant system permission, the app reads latitude, longitude, speed, altitude, heading, accuracy and time through system location APIs. These support speed, direction and altitude displays, distance calculation and location diagnostics. On Android, satellite IDs, constellations, signal strength and whether satellites are used in a fix support GPS diagnostics. Precise location and movement history are sensitive personal information. Refusal affects real speed and trip recording; help, legal documents and simulated demos remain available.

Trip recording: only after you start recording, the app accumulates time, distance and samples containing coordinates, speed, altitude and time. During recording, it writes new samples and statistics to app-private local files approximately every five seconds, and also attempts a save when paused, backgrounded or ended, for recovery, history, statistics and speed charts. Pausing adds no route samples. On relaunch you can resume an unfinished trip or save the recovered portion. Time and distance while the app was not running are not added, and resuming a real trip still requires location authorization. Recent content not successfully saved may be lost due to termination or storage failure.

Preferences and consent: language, display, units, alert threshold, background recording, retention choices, document version, consent status and consent time are stored locally to remember your choices. Demo mode generates simulated coordinates and speeds without accessing real location; demo trips are labeled.

Contacting us: when you email admin@maimitech.com, we receive your email address, message and any screenshots, logs or files you attach, only to respond, troubleshoot and handle rights requests. Avoid sending unrelated precise routes, identity documents or other sensitive information.

3. Permissions and background location

Location permission is requested when you start real location, for the speed and trip purposes above. Precise location improves readings and distance estimates. Disabled location, denied permission or weak signals may limit accuracy or availability. You can revoke permission in system settings.

Background trip recording is off by default. After you separately confirm enabling it, actively start a real trip and grant the necessary system permission, the app continues accessing location while in the background or with the screen locked to maintain that trip’s time, distance and route. Android uses a foreground location service with an indicator; iOS uses system background location and its indicator. End the trip to stop recording, or turn off the option while no trip is recording. System power management can still interrupt updates.

Keeping the screen awake supports viewing speed; sound and vibration support your chosen alerts. Exports use app temporary files and the system share sheet. The app does not request contacts, camera, microphone or full photo-library access, or broad storage access for CSV export.

4. Storage, retention and deletion

Saved trips and pending unfinished trips are kept in app-private files; settings and consent records are kept in local preferences. History is retained until you delete it or the system clears app data. You may choose 30 or 90 days; older history is removed on launch or data saving, based on trip start time. This is not a scheduled background deletion service. Unfinished trips remain separately available for you to resume or save the recovered portion.

Use Settings → Data management to export summaries or clear saved history. Clearing history does not end an active trip or delete a pending unfinished trip. To clear all trips, first end the active recording or save the recovered portion, then clear history. Clearing system app data or uninstalling normally removes local app data; exported files, recipients’ copies and system backups must be managed separately.

CSV contains trip start time, demo status, duration, distance, average speed and maximum speed, without point-by-point coordinates. The export’s temporary file may remain in app cache until overwritten, cleared by the system or removed when you clear app data.

Operating-system or manufacturer backup and migration services may copy app data according to your system choices. This is not a trip cloud-sync service provided by us. Manage backup and restore in system settings. We cannot remotely access, recover or erase trips on your device or in its backups.

5. Components, system services and sharing

The current app uses these open-source components and their platform implementations to access system functions. They are not configured as advertising, analytics or separate trip-upload services in this app:

shared_preferences, path_provider and url_launcher (Flutter official plugin project): local settings and consent records; directories for trip files and temporary exports; and your requests to open website, policy or email links, respectively. The app writes trip files to the app-private directory provided by path_provider. These components handle relevant settings, trips, local paths or your chosen link. The former handles the CSV and temporary path; the latter calls screen/power APIs and does not need location. System location and backup are provided by your OS or device vendor. Their network-location, diagnostics and backup practices depend on system choices and their policies. Recipients you select in the share sheet handle files under their own policies; check before sharing. We do not sell personal information or provide location or trips to advertisers.

6. Website, email and international processing

Our website consists of static product and legal pages, without registration, message forms, ads or analytics scripts. It does not set analytics cookies or read app trips. To deliver pages and secure the website, browsers and hosting servers process IP addresses, request paths, times and browser information. Operational logs should be limited to these purposes and necessary periods, without building travel profiles.

Information you email is kept only as necessary to address the matter, resolve disputes and meet legal requirements, then deleted or anonymized. Mail and hosting providers may process related email and network data, without thereby receiving local app trips.

The current app does not transfer trips or location to overseas servers provided by us. Your chosen system backup, sharing or email provider, or network used to visit the site, may involve international processing depending on that service. If we introduce international personal-information transfers, we will first explain recipients, purposes, data types and rights mechanisms and complete legally required steps.

7. Choices and rights

You can view trips, export CSV summaries, delete saved history and revoke location permission in system settings. In Privacy Policy → Privacy and permissions, you can withdraw consent: real location and recording stop, the current recorded trip is saved, and background recording is disabled. Existing history is not automatically deleted. Legal documents and demos remain available; using real location again requires renewed consent and system permission.

Withdrawal does not affect prior processing based on consent. Contact our email to request access, copies, correction, deletion, restriction, explanations and other rights available under applicable law, including objection or portability where applicable. We may request necessary verification and respond within the legally required period. Local-only trips must be managed on your device because we hold no server copy. You may complain to a competent regulator. There is no account to delete.

8. Security and children

We reduce exposure through app-specific storage, limited permissions and no trip-upload service. Trip storage has no additional app-layer encryption. Use a device lock and manage backups and sharing carefully. No storage or communication is absolutely secure. We will respond to and notify you of security incidents as required by law.

This app is not specifically directed to children under 14. Minors should use it with guardian guidance and obtain guardian consent where legally required. Guardians can contact us if a child sends unnecessary personal information to us.

9. Changes and contact

We update the date and version and give notice through the app or website when this policy changes. Material changes to purposes, methods or data types, or other changes requiring consent, will be presented for the necessary renewed consent before implementation. Publishing a policy alone does not constitute consent to new sensitive-data processing.
